SYNOPSIS

Mexican writer-director Sandro Espinosa’s Beings is a raw, lo-fi sci-fi thriller that ditches the usual dystopian spectacle in favour of something far more unsettling — a deeply human story about survival, desperation, and the things we cling to when everything falls apart.

Lucio has become fixated on perfecting his ‘medical robot’ in a world suffering from shortages of vital resources: medicine, water, and food. The machine is his last hope but as issues with it arise, Lucio loses his grip on what matters most.

Gritty, claustrophobic, and impossible to shake, Beings asks a simple but devastating question: what happens to our humanity when our tools — and our empathy — start to break down?
