RED DWARF’S NAYLOR DROPS A KID’S BOOK

Doug Naylor, co-creator of the outstanding RED DWARF, is releasing his debut novel for children, Sin Bin Island, on 11th September.

Sin Bin Island mixes the classic adventure ingredients of a foreboding orphanage, compelling characters and intriguing mystery, with magic, a spot of surrealism and a whole heap of funny. Sin Bin Island is what happens when classic adventure story tropes meet one of the greatest comedy minds of a generation. Described by Craig Charles as ‘the book I always wanted to read as a kid but could never find!’

Doug Naylor is a British Emmy-award-winning television writer, Sunday Times bestselling novelist, and an award-winning TV director. He is best known as the co-creator (with Rob Grant) of the iconic sci-fi sitcom Red Dwarf for which he wrote or co-wrote all 74 episodes. He was one of the two Head Writers at Spitting Image during the series’ heyday and co-penned the number one single.

Some of us also fondly remember his work on BBC Radio 4 on shows like SON OF CLICHE, where the seeds of Red Dwarf can be found.

DETENTION JUST GOT DANGEROUS!

When Jack Digby is sent to Cyril Sniggs’s Correctional Orphanage for Wayward Boys and Girls, he doesn’t expect lessons in how to fire cannons and fend off pirate attacks. But perhaps he should, as the school, some say, was founded by a pirate.

Even stranger, at the end of each year, the four worst-behaved pupils are banished to the terrifying Sin Bin Island, where they must survive for a week. Legend has it, the island was once used to smuggle magic onto the mainland, but in over 300 years the magic has never returned.
